When do you need chimney crickets?
Updated: Mar 18
To meet code requirements in ALL locations, a chimney over 30 inches wide requires a cricket (also known as a saddle) to be installed. This cricket/saddle allows the water to divert around the chimney. Since this is a code requirement, the carrier will cover the costs associated as long as the homeowner has code endorsement.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO TO GET IT APPROVED?
To ensure you get the correct amount of money from the carrier for the chimney cricket install, you need to:
Note the chimney size on your inspection sheet.
Take a photo of the chimney next to a measuring tape to prove it’s more than 30 inches wide.
